Weekend crowd + street closure warning
Over one million people attend SF Pride. Market Street closes 8am–2pm on Sunday Jun 28 for the parade; Civic Center and surrounding blocks are at capacity for the festival both days. Do not drive — parking near Market St fills completely and post-parade traffic sits 60–90+ minutes. Take BART (Civic Center or Powell St station).
Watching the parade (Sunday June 28)
The SF Pride Parade steps off at 10:30am on Market Street and runs to Civic Center. Market Street closes 8am–2pm — get there by 9am to claim a spot.
Embarcadero / Lower MarketFree
Lower Market (Beale–5th St) — more space for strollers

The start of the route has more breathing room than the Civic Center end. Good stroller access, clear sightlines, and an early parade pass-through so you can head out before the midday crowd peaks. Take BART to Embarcadero and walk a few blocks.

The heart of the parade — floats are moving, music is loudest, and the crowds are packed and celebratory. Powell St BART drops you 2 blocks away. This is the classic SF Pride parade-watching spot.

The parade ends at Civic Center in one big moment — bands, final floats, and the largest cheering crowd on the route. It's the most festive spot but also the most packed. Civic Center BART is directly below (be prepared for a crush when the parade ends).

Driving to SF Pride is not viable — Market Street and Civic Center parking fill completely, and post-parade traffic sits for hours. BART runs extended service both days. Civic Center station exits directly at the festival; Powell Street is a 10-minute walk to the parade route.

The official festival runs both days at Civic Center Plaza. The Castro, Dolores Park, and the Pink Triangle are free all weekend.

Rainbow flags from every window, outdoor celebrations, and a neighborhood-wide welcome energy — this is the heart of Pride. Walk Castro Street, grab lunch, and take it all in. No ticket needed. Castro Muni (F-Market) runs both days.

A classic Pride gathering spot — huge lawn, rainbow flags, food trucks, and a welcoming mix of families, dogs, and community. Get there before 11am if you want shade and a good patch of grass. Easier than Civic Center and open to all. J-Church Muni is the best access.

An 8,000-square-foot pink triangle on the Twin Peaks hillside — visible across much of SF. A beautiful, quiet Pride moment that's great for kids to see. Best street-level view from the Castro or Upper Market. No parking required.

The Conservatory of Flowers, de Young Museum, and Japanese Tea Garden are far from the Market Street and Civic Center closures. A great SF day with zero Pride crowds. Take the 5 or 5R bus — weekend parking is still tight across the city.
